A contracted U.S. Mail delivery truck was rear-ended by a red pickup truck at the intersection of Springbrook Drive and North Roan Street about 3:40 a.m. Saturday, police said.
After the impact, the mail delivery truck was thrust into another mail delivery truck in front of it, according to Johnson City Police Sgt. Greg Pohto.
According to the crash report, the driver of the pickup truck, Anibal Dionoso Valentin, 23, Johnson City, rear-ended the mail truck and was extracted from the vehicle because he was trapped inside.
The crash report also said Valentin was driving carelessly and erratically.
He was transported to Johnson City Medical Center after he suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police said the Tennessee Highway Patrol has taken over the crash investigation.
Valentin was charged by the Tennessee Highway Patrol with driving under the influence, not having a driver's license and failure to yield, according to THP spokesperson Dalya Qualls.comments powered by Disqus
