Update: Johnson City man accused of soliciting sex from teen pleas not guilty to federal charge

Rickie Hoyle Jr.

The Johnson City man arrested last month for allegedly attempting to solicit sex from an underage boy was indicted by a federal grand jury Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Greeneville.

Rickie Lee Hoyle Jr. was indicted on one count of inducing a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity. Hoyle's attorney entered a not-guilty plea on his behalf during his arraignment Tuesday morning. A trial date was set for Aug. 27.

It is alleged that between June 1, 2012, to May 23, 2013, Hoyle used a "facility or means of interstate commerce" to knowingly or attempt to persuade, induce, entice, or coerce a minor to engage in sexual activity.

Hoyle was arrested on May 24 following a joint investigation by the Erwin Police Department and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
