Man receives two charges after fight with family members

A man from Fall Branch was charged with two counts of aggravated assault after an incident that occurred around midnight on June 4.


James L. Murray, 53, 304 Butchertown Road, Fall Branch, was arrested after his niece’s husband, Sonny Clendenin, told police he assaulted him following a verbal argument, according to Johnson City police.


Murray allegedly pulled a knife, threatened to shoot Clendenin in the head and also punched his niece, Amy Starnes, in the face.


Murray’s bond was set at $20,000 and he was being held in the Washington County Detention Center.
