Erwin to get a Pal's

ERWIN — Kingsport-based fast food chain Pal’s Sudden Service announced Friday that it would add a new location in Erwin.

The drive-through restaurant will be located at the corner of Jonesborough Road and North Industry Drive. Groundbreaking on the property is set for Aug. 1.

The Erwin location will be the 26th restaurant in the chain as part of Pal’s ongoing plan for expansion in the state.

“We are very excited to be able to announce the news about the Erwin location,” Thom Crosby, chain’s president and chief operating officer, said in a news release. “Unicoi County residents have been supporters of Pal’s for years with our other locations and we’re pleased to soon offer our fast and friendly service and world famous menu in their area.”

Along with sales tax revenue, jobs will come Unicoi County with the opening, as Pal’s employs more than 50 people at each location.

Founded in 1956 by Pal Barger, the Kingsport, Tenn.-based company operates restaurant locations from Morristown to Abingdon, Va. Pal’s Sudden Service was the first restaurant chain to earn the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, a U.S. Department of Commerce award for business excellence. It is also a two-time winner of Tennessee’s Quality Excellence Award.

Pal's serves sweet tea, shakes, hamburgers, hot dogs and fries, as well as breakfast items.
