The 14th Annual Blue Plum Festival kicks off today in downtown Johnson City. This year’s festival is expected to be one of the biggest and best ever, although the weather might make it a bit wetter than some recent Blue Plums. Our advice is to carry an umbrella with you when you head downtown.
Blue Plum has grown from a modest arts and crafts festival to one of the most anticipated three-day events in the region. As we’ve said here before, Blue Plum is a pleasant surprise for folks who have not visited downtown in a while. They will discover a number of vibrant businesses and restaurants that now call downtown home.
The festival was started as a way to bring people to downtown Johnson City. In that regard, the festival has been an unqualified success.
This year’s Blue Plum features live music, food, arts and a 5K run/walk. There is something for every member of the family to enjoy. So grab your umbrella this weekend and take a stroll downtown.
