A Johnson City woman who police say left her young child with a friend for what was supposed to be a few days but wound up being eight days was arrested Wednesday after being found by Johnson City Police at the Horseshoe Lounge, 908 W. Market St.
The child was left without the necessities for the friend to take care of the child, police said, and the friend called police, who notified Child Protective Services.
The mother, April Jones, 24, 542 Pine Lane, was charged with felony child neglect. She was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where her bond was set at $10,000. She was scheduled to be in Sessions Court on Thursday.
