ELIZABETHTON — A man was arrested early Wednesday morning on a grand jury indictment charging him with four counts of rape of a child.
Charles Davis, 18, 233 W. Elk Ave., Apartment 2, was arrested by Officer Eric Buck of the Elizabethton Police Department.
The case was investigated by Lt. Randy Bowers of the Carter County Sheriff's Department. He said the incidents occurred during last Christmas season on four separate occasions. The girl was a family member.
When he was questioned about the incidents, interrogators said Davis told them he was heavily intoxicated and had no recollection of the events.
There was reportedly no physical force used in the incidents, but Tennessee law classifies such activity as rape if the victim is under the age of 13.
Davis is scheduled to answer the charges during the next session of Criminal Court.
