Theatre Summer Camps for Children in the Tri-Cities

KTG Summer Actor Training

Kingsport Theatre Guild’s Summer Actor Training Program 2013 will be held June 14-30 at the Kingsport Renaissance Center. Participants can choose from a variety of classes, and the program will culminate with the students presenting the world premiere production of the comedy, “The Language of the Birds.” Teen S.A.T.P. is for ages 12-18; Junior S.A.T.P. is open to participants ages 7-12; and Mini S.A.T.P. is for children ages 3-7. Tuition is $175 per student for the Teen and Junior programs, and $80 for the Mini program. Kidzeye Theatre

Johnson City Community Theatre will present three week-long Kidzeye Theatre workshops this summer for children ages 7-13. During the workshops, to be held June 16-20, July 8-12 and July 29-Aug. 2, students will learn stage presence, blocking, character development and more. Each week of the workshop will feature a different play so that children who want to attend all three sessions will have a different experience each time. Leading the workshops will be director/playwright Chris Bernstein and JCCT’s theatre manager, Thomas Townsend. Tuition is $150 for each week-long session, with discounts available for siblings. Summer conservatories

The Mary B. Martin Program for the Arts will host several summer conservatories at the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre and the newly renovated McKinney Center at Booker T. Washington School: June 3-7, Theatre Tots Camp; June 3-7, Power of Performing Arts; June 10-22, Musical Theatre; June 13-15, USO Boot Camp; July 8-20, Drifting Theatre Actor Training; July 22-27, Stage Hands; and July 30 and 31, “Shrek the Musical” Workshop. Camp NPAC Kids

Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville will hold Camp NPAC Kids, featuring summer theatrical day camps for students in grades K-9, in July. Rising kindergarten through second graders will attend July 8-12; third through sixth graders will attend July 15-19; and campers in seventh through ninth grade will attend July 22-26. Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students should bring a snack, lunch and beverage each day. Tuition is $250 per student; cost for additional siblings in the same session is $225.
