Elier Luna Rocha
An argument between a Unicoi County man and his girlfriend turned physical early Saturday after he allegedly dragged her into his Jeep and drove away from a downtown Johnson City bar.
Elier Luna Rocha, 25, 400 Railroad Street, Erwin, was arrested after Johnson City Police Officer Teresa Campbell was flagged down near Big G’s, 419 W. Market St., by a witness to the incident.
He was charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping.
The witness told police he saw a man drag a woman into a Jeep and drive off. Campbell patrolled the area and located a maroon Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling west on West Market Street.
Campbell pulled the vehicle over near Doyle’s Tire and “immediately heard a female screaming and crying and observed both the female and male defendant in the driver’s seat.”
The woman, Brittany Carter, 24, Kingsport, told police Rocha was her boyfriend and they had been in a verbal argument inside the vehicle when it turned physical.
“She advised that (Rocha) then reached over and choked her at which time she fled from the vehicle,” Campbell wrote in the arrest warrant.
Carter tried to hide from Rocha, but he circled the block and located her near Big G’s.
Rocha then “pulled her down onto the ground and forced her into the Jeep against her will,” Campbell wrote in the report.
Rocha was jailed with a $40,000 bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Washington County General Sessions Court this afternoon.comments powered by Disqus
