Police: Man caught with items stolen in Johnson City restaurant burglary

Rickey Lynn Kiser

A 31-year-old Johnson City man was arrested Thursday on charges that he burglarized a local Mexican restaurant and shoplifted from a neighboring grocery store.

Rickey Lynn Kiser, general delivery, was found with items stolen from both locations in a vehicle parked in the shopping center at 1805 W. State of Franklin Road, police said in a news release.

Police responded to a burglar alarm at El Charolais Restaurant and found that a side door to the business had been forced open. After clearing the building, police received information that a man had been walking around the business and was in a vehicle in the parking lot.

Police made contact with Kiser, who had stolen property from El Charolais in his possession. Kiser also had items he had shoplifted from the neighboring Kroger in the vehicle, police said.

Kiser was charged with burglary and theft of property under $500.

He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $11,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Friday.
