Johnson City man charged with burglary, using stolen food stamp card

Johnson City police announced Wednesday the arrest of a man on charges that he burglarized a residence and used a food stamp card stolen in the burglary.

Xavier Lavon Townes, 20, 1415 Colony Park Drive, Apt. 6, was arrested May 23 after an investigation into an April burglary.

Police said the victim reported that his home was burglarized on or about April 15, and his food stamp card and other items were taken.

Townes was charged with aggravated burglary, 2 counts of theft of property under $500, and fraudulent use of credit/debit card.

He remained jailed today in the Washington County Detention Center on $7,500 bond with hearing scheduled this afternoon in Sessions Court.
