Johnson City firefighters rescued a woman from a burning Lamont Street house this morning.
Firefighters were called to 222 Lamont St. at 6:11 a.m. and found smoke coming from a second-floor window, according to a news release. Dispatchers had informed them that a resident remained inside the house.
After searching the house, firefighters found the 54-year-old woman and brought her out a second-floor window and down a ladder.
According to the JCFD, the fire was on the second floor of the home and caused little damage.
Three engines and two fire trucks responded to the fire, with the first unit arriving within two minutes.
First aid was provided by firefighters and Washington County/Johnson City Emergency Services personnel. The woman was taken to Johnson City Medical Center.
The woman's name and medical condition have not yet been released and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
