Man charged with selling marijuana from Johnson City motel room

Christopher S. Connelly

A Wilson Avenue man was arrested Thursday on drug charges after police were alerted to drug activity in his Johnson City motel room, police said in a report.

Christopher S. Connelly, 33, 707 Wilson Ave., was arrested at Motel 6, 207 E. Mountcastle Drive, after an investigation that began when a woman told police she had been in the room throughout the night and that "drugs and traffic" had been coming out of the room. When police knocked at the door, Connelly answered, and the smell of fresh marijuana and "a strong cover odor" were evident, police said.

Connelly allowed police to search the room, where they found two bags of marijuana weighing about 1.5 ounces hidden in a trash can. Police also found scales, extra bags and rolling papers. Connelly told police he had been selling marijuana, according to the report.

Connelly was charged with possession of schedule VI drug for resale and unlawful drug paraphernalia. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $11,000 bond awaiting a Sessions Court appearance Friday.
