Telford woman charged with theft resulting from Johnson City apartment assault

Cameron B. Boyd

A Telford woman was arrested Wednesday on an accusation that she helped steal a television and cash from a man in a Johnson City apartment after he was knocked unconscious.

Cameron B. Boyd, 23, 155 Slate Hill Road, Telford, was charged with theft over $500 stemming from the Dec. 23 incident at 139 Austin Springs Road.

In a court document, police said Steven Seals reported that he allowed two acquaintances into his apartment. One of the acquaintances, Dusty Miller, asked to borrow a DVD, and as Seals went to his bedroom to get it, Seals was struck in the back by what he thought was a wooden object. Seals and Miller fought, and Seals was knocked unconscious.

When he came to, a 37-inch television and his wallet containing money were missing, Seals told police. The combined value of the TV and the cash was listed as $685.

Seals suffered contusions, abrasions, a broken nose and a broken orbital socket. He identified both Miller and Boyd in photo lineups, police said.

On March 21, Miller was charged with aggravated assault and theft over $500 from the same incident after his release  from the Carter County Jail on other charges, according to police records.

After her arrest Wednesday, Boyd was jailed in the Detention Center on $5,000 bond and arraigned Thursday in Sessions Court.
