Davidson County judge orders release of DCS records

Davidson County Chancellor Carol McCoy on Friday released the records of 42 children who died or nearly died under the supervision of the Department of Children’s Services, comprising the first 1,600 pages of records that The Tennessean and other media groups have sued the department to review.

After reviewing the records herself, McCoy said in a court meeting that in some cases, criminal prosecutions should have been triggered.

“There have been balls dropped,” McCoy said.
