ELIZABETHTON — The Carter County Sheriff's Department was the victim of a crime recently.
John Huber, the uniformed officer who accompanies the department's work gang of inmates, reported that a chainsaw had been stolen in April.
Huber said the red Echo chainsaw went missing on a day the crew was working at the Carter County Landfill. The chainsaw had been placed in the back of the work truck that day. The crew broke for lunch around noon. Huber said he noticed the chainsaw missing when the crew returned to the jail at 3 p.m.
The chainsaw was valued at $300.
