Elizabethton man accused of bashing Johnson City bar employee with beer bottle

Johnson City police chased down a bar patron accused of hitting a nightclub employee’s head with a beer bottle Wednesday, according to a police news release.
According to the release, Dennis W. Fletcher, 32, 2760 Tenn. Highway 91, Elizabethton, was arrested after he allegedly assaulted Jeffrey G. Bostic, an employee at The Electric Cowboy, 1805 N. Roan St.
Bostic and witness Kristofer Obrien told police that Fletcher had assaulted Bostic in the back of the head with a beer bottle as Bostic was trying to escort Fletcher out of the club. They gave a description of the man to police and said they saw him running toward the Carmike Theater.
After a short foot chase, police caught Fletcher and took him back to The Electric Cowboy, where a witness identified him, police said.
Police noted that Fletcher was intoxicated, had red, watery eyes, had poor physical coordination and had slurred speech.
Fletcher was charged with aggravated assault and public intoxication. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance today.
