Company faces $24,000 in penalties in Knoxville electrocution

KNOXVILLE — State officials have proposed a $24,000 penalty on a company whose temporary employee was electrocuted last year while working at a wastewater treatment construction site on Neyland Drive.
Michael Tallent, 27, of Powell died in the Dec. 31, 2012, incident at the Kuwahee Wastewater Treatment Plant, 2015 Neyland Drive.
An investigation by the Tennessee Occupational Safety and Health Administration noted 10 serious violations that led to Tallent’s death, records show.
