How many beers? Hawkins County man tells police '12, 14, 24 or 48'

ROGERSVILLE — A Rogersville man who told police Saturday he’d had as many as 48 beers to drink that day may have been exaggerating, but he did allegedly drink enough to earn charges including DUI fifth offense.

Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Shawn Williams was patrolling Route 66 south of Rogersville Saturday evening shortly before 7:30 p.m. when he reportedly noticed two vehicles stopped in the turn lane at the south end of the Hugh B. Day Bridge.

Williams asked the driver of the rear vehicle if there was a problem.
