Update: Johnson City police release bank robbery details

A white male about 6 feet tall and between 150-160 pounds demanded money from an Eastman Credit Union bank teller today at about 10:30 a.m., a Johnson City Police official said in a press conference this afternoon.
JCPD Sgt. Kevin Peters said the surveillance footage showed the suspect wearing a black and orange-billed Baltimore Orioles hat and a purple long-sleeve shirt with dark pants during the robbery. The man appeared to be wearing socks on his hands, according to a JCPD news release.
"The male then exited the bank after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot toward Carroll Creek Road," according to the news release.
The branch is located at 4307 N. Roan St. in the same plaza with Food City and Simms Pizzeria.
After police left the scene, a sign posted on the entrance indicated that the branch was temporally closed and referred customers to other ECU locations.
Peters said witnesses were inside the bank while the incident occurred and no injuries were reported.
Peters also said the investigation is ongoing and no other details are being released at this time.
To report any information to the JCPD call the Criminal Investigation Division at 434-6166 or Crimestoppers at 434-6158. Texts can also be sent anonymously to 423JCPD and tips to 847411 (TIP411).
