A Johnson City man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly threw various items and choked a woman while holding her against a wall, according to a police press release.
Charles S. Bennett Jr., 22, 105 Dyer St., was charged after officers responded to a call in which the victim said he allegedly became angry during an argument, police said.
The victim told police she and Bennett were arguing and he threw her phone, then a glass candle holder at her.
According to the report, she said she went into the kitchen and Bennett followed, throwing her against the wall and choking her until she could barely breathe.
Bennett was not at the residence when police arrived, but was later arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
He was taken to the Washington County Detention Center and was being held on $20,000 bond.
Bennett was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
