ELIZABETHTON — Although the Carter County Landfill has moved the annual county clean-up effort to autumn for this year, the county’s streams will still get their annual spring cleaning.
The Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce has announced the 25th Annual Carter County Clean Streams Clean-up will be held April 27 from 9 a.m.-noon. It is an event that annually cleans tons of debris from the county’s streams and rivers.
The event will be centered on the Covered Bridge Park. There will be conservation and educational exhibits set up in the park. A picnic and drawing for prizes will be held in the park immediately after the cleanup for all those who participate.
Participants are asked to dress appropriately for moving through areas around stream beds. Event organizers suggest the participants bring boots, waders, insect repellent and sunscreen. Trash bags and gloves will be provided.
