Civil Service test scheduled to fill positions with Carter Co. sheriff

ELIZABETHTON — The Carter County Civil Service Board will be conducting the Civil Service test for persons interested in applying for employment with the Carter County Sheriff’s Department.
The examination will be conducted on April 16 at 6 p.m. in the Commons Area/Cafeteria at Elizabethton High School, 897 Jason Witten Way.
To be eligible for employment with the sheriff’s department, applicants must be 21 years of age, be bondable and be a citizen of the United States.
They must also have a high school diploma or its equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license and never have been convicted of a felony or have been dishonorably discharged from the armed forces of the United States.
The Tennessee Correctional Institute, which regulates jails in Tennessee, requires an appropriate ratio of men and women officers in order to adequately supervise male and female prisoners.
Currently, the Carter County Sheriff’s Department is anticipating hiring 10 correctional officers.

Applications for employment are available at the CCSD. All applications must be completed and on file at the department no later than April 12 at 5 p.m. in order to be eligible to sit for the written examination.
Proof of identification will be required.
