BRISTOL — A Bristol man who called 911 Friday night and said he had a hand grenade was taken into custody by Bristol police after a lengthy standoff.
According to a release from the Bristol Police Department, Glenn Douglas Cock, 5011 Old Jonesboro Road, called 911 about 10:56 p.m. Officers, who didn’t know if Cock was armed, went to his residence and attempted to get him to come outside. Cock refused and made additional threats toward the officers, saying he had a loaded AK-47 and would use it.
The BPD’s SWAT and Negotiations teams attempted to re-establish contact with Cock via both his home phone and the department’s negotiations phone. Those efforts took place over an extended period of time and were unanswered by Cock, police said.
Police said the decision was then made to enter the residence to ensure Cock’s safety and the safety of the residents around him.
Officers took Cock into custody and charged him with the class C felony of false reports. His arrangement is scheduled for Monday morning in Sessions Court in Bristol.
