A Bristol, Va., woman was arrested Monday on a DUI charge after a wreck in north Johnson City.
Sherry Miller, 46, 325 Edmond St., Apt. 216, Bristol, Va., was charged after an accident investigation at the intersection of Timberlake and East Mountain View roads in Johnson City.
Officers arrived at the scene of the accident and when they approached Miller’s red Mazda Protege, which was involved in the accident, one of the officers could smell a strong odor from an alcoholic beverage on Miller’s breath and her speech was slurred.
Miller told police that she had consumed an entire fifth of vodka and had taken several pills.
According to the police report, a field sobriety test was not conducted because Miller allegedly became combative and had to be restrained and taken to the ground by the two responding officers.
Miller and her passenger, Nancy Hale, were taken to Johnson City Medical Center and a license check revealed Miller was a habitual motor offender, with a DUI conviction in Sullivan County in 2003.
Miller read and signed the implied consent form and when she was discharged from JCMC she was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where she was being held on $6,000 bond for violating the habitual motor offender law and DUI.
She was scheduled to appear in Sessions Court Tuesday.
