A stop sign violation led Johnson City police to make a drug arrest early this morning, according to a news release.
Luke M. McKinney, 33, 115 Treadway Lane, was charged with possession of a schedule I drugs and driving on a suspended license.
Police said McKinney was arrested after he ran a stop sign at Appalachian Christian Village and when police ran a check of his license, his license had been suspended. When police asked McKinney where he was coming from, he responded that he had been at the Motel 6 to visit a friend, and that he appeared nervous.
According to the police report, a search of McKinney’s car revealed a crack pipe in between the driver’s seat and the console and four crack rocks in the passenger flood board, and McKinney admitted to the drugs and the pipe belonged to him.
He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance later today.
