Two Kingsport men were found with more than 2 1/2 pounds of marijuana Wednesday during an Interstate 26 traffic stop in Johnson City, police said in a news release.
George Collins, 1238 Faye St., Kingsport, and David Nash, 1250 Faye St., were stopped for speeding about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday as Johnson City police conducted traffic enforcement on I-26, police said.
Police learned that Collins had a warrant for his arrest from Sullivan County. A police dog, K-9 Rex, was brought in to sniff around the vehicle. The dog alerted police to both sides of the vehicle and its trunk. Searching the vehicle, police found 2.55 pounds of a marijuana in a cardboard box in the trunk, police said.
Charged with manufacturing/delivery/resale of schedule VI drugs, Collins and Nash were booked at the Washington County Detention Center and held on a $10,000 bond each pending Sessions Court appearances Friday.
