KINGSPORT — Police say surveillance of a hotspot for Kingsport drug transactions has led to a felony arrest and the seizure of $1,600 in crack cocaine.
According to a police report, late Tuesday night the Kingsport Police Department Vice and Narcotics Unit was monitoring the parking lot of a Stone Drive convenience store. KPD Det. Nathan Elliott says excessive foot traffic was observed to and from a particular vehicle, prompting an officer to walk to the car.
Through the window a man in the driver's seat was reportedly observed to have a white substance and baggie in his lap, making no attempt to be discreet in his actions. At the same time a passenger in the vehicle was allegedly handing the driver cash.
