Election is coming: Are you registered to vote?

If you are a Johnson City resident, and you are not registered to vote, now is the time to take care of that important piece of business. City voters will go to the polls April 23 to fill seats on the City Commission and the city’s Board of Education.
The last day to register to vote in the municipal election is March 25. Another important date to remember is April 3, which is the start of early voting.
Johnson City residents have a number of easy options for registering to vote. One is to fill out a form when you renew your driver’s license. Another is to pick up a form at the public library.
You can also fill out a voter registration form at the Washington County Election Commission office. Tennesseans can register to vote at the county clerk or register of deeds offices, as well as at many state offices. You can also go to www.state.tn.us/sos/election/ to download a voter registration form.
You must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years or older and a resident of the state to qualify to vote. Tennesseans convicted of felonies are not eligible to vote unless they have had their full citizenship rights properly restored.
For more information on the upcoming election, call the Washington County Election Commission office at 753-1813.
