ELIZABETHTON — Work is continuing on the $36.9 million Gap Creek Highway improvement project. Work on the 5.9-mile project is expected to be completed on Oct. 31, 2014, according to Mark Nagi, community relations officer for Region 1 of the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Some of the rights of way have not yet been acquired, according to property owners along the route. The general contractor on the project is Charles Blalock and Sons.
