Lady Buffs take over first in AAC

ATHENS — Johneshia Good scored 23 points and the Milligan College women’s basketball team took sole possession of first place in the Appalachian Athletic Conference women’s basketball standings with a convincing 68-52 win over Tennessee Wesleyan.
The teams entered the day tied for first in the league. The Lady Buffs improved to 14-2 and 21-8 overall, while Wesleyan fell to 13-3 and 16-9.
Tracy Hardiman’s 3-pointer to open the game put the Lady Buffs ahead for good as Milligan went up 7-0 and never relenquished the lead. Tennessee Wesleyan closed the gap to three points in the first half, but Milligan pulled away to lead 28-18 at the break.
Milligan scored the first seven points of the second half to pad its lead. The Lady Bulldogs only managed to get within 10 points the rest of the way.
Kayla Kelly added 11 points for Milligan and Allison Jones added 10. Hardimann finished with eight points and Jamiee Hill pulled down a team-high eight rebounds.
Milligan closes out its home schedule on Wednesday night against Columbia College.

ATHENS — Despite 28 points from senior Tyler DeVault, Milligan’s men way and took a 54-36 lead into the lockerroom. Milligan couldn’t get any closer in the second half.
Cartree Pettis added 21 points and Torian Sitton scored 16 for the Buffs.
Milligan fell to 9-6 in the AAC and 17-11 overall. Wesleyan won its 13th in a row and improved to 13-1 and 20-7.
Milligan wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 16, at Point University. Game time is 4 p.m.
