Highlanders hold off Unaka

ROAN MOUNTAIN — Cloudland had the edge in a Watauga Valley Conference battle on Tuesday night.
The Highlanders used some late foul shots and held off Unaka for the 68-67 win.
Zac Potter led four Highlander players in double digits with 19 points. Dylan McClellan netted 15 points, Taylor Whitehead had 12 and Mason Carnett added 10.
Unaka had a chance to go ahead late, but missed a couple of shots in the final seconds.
Logan Carrier also scored 19 points to lead Unaka. Billy Bales had 18 and Alex Batlaji chipped in 17.

University High 63
KINGSPORT — Chase Arnold had a monster double-double to lead the Golden Raiders past University High in a non-district clash.
Arnold, who became Sullivan North’s all-time leading scorer on Saturday against Gate City, scored 38 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Kairi Thompson added 15 points, and Grayson Ball recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds for North (11-6), which had 20 assists as a team.
Marcus Taylor paced the Junior Bucs with 22 points, Calen Archer added 19 and Seth Hilbert chipped in 14.

Caleb Sprouse led a trio of double-digit scorers to give the Knights the win.
Sprouse scored 11 points, while Jacolby Darr and Jake Weaver each had 10. Providence led 29-8 after the first quarter.
Zack England led Cedarview with 15 points.

BLOUNTVILLE — Holden Joseph scrored 22 point and Drew Blythe had 21 as the Eagles rallied from a big first-quarter deficit.
Blythe also had six assists and five steals for Tri-Cities Christian, which improved to 8-5 despite being down 23-11 after the first quarter.
Terry Miller added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Noah Rsenbalm had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Terrell Stephny led J. Frank White Academy with 21 points.

Dobyns-Bennett 50
BRISTOL — Ashlee Mitchell racked up 32 points and the Lady Vikings won the Big Eight matchup.
Mitchell also had four rebounds, four steals and four assists for Tennessee High, which pulled ahead by 22 in the third quarter.
Sydney Mitchell added seven points, six rebounds and three steals for the Vikings. Dobyns-Bennett got 20 points from Sasha Morrisette and 10 from Madi Kilby.

ROAN MOUNTAIN — Brooke Rhodes had a double-double and the Lady Highlanders pulled away in a big fourth quarter for the Watauga Valley Conference win.
Rhodes scored 23 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. The game was tied at 27 after three quarters, but Cloudland outscored the Rangers 23-4 in the final frame.
Kassie Winters scored nine points to lead Unaka.

Cedarview 22
McKenzie Trujillo scored 17 points and Natalie Smith had a double-double to give the Lady Knights the win.
Smith had 13 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks. Erica Roller added six points, seven rebounds, six assists and seven steals. Trujillo also had six steals, while Hannah Hollowell and Emma Harrod each hauled in seven boards.

BLOUTNVILLE — Becca Cox scored 22 points and Emily Fox drained five 3-pointers in the Lady Eagles’ win.
Cox also grabbed eight steals, while Alicia Cook added 16 points. Fox finished with 15 points, and Sarah Cox chipped in five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
