Saults lifts Crockett past Central

BLOUNTVILLE — Josh Saults hit a shot as time expired to give David Crockett a 65-64 win over Sullivan Central in Big Eight Confernce boys basketball action on Friday night.
The Pioneers recovered from an early deficit, taking a four-point lead with a 21-10 third quarter. The Cougars fought back to retake the lead, setting up Saults’ shot. The ties Crockett with Tennessee High in the conference standings at 2-3.
Isaac Mango led Crockett with 23 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Page netted 14 and Jeremy Houston added 11. Saults finished with nine.
Luke Nussman and Jacob Carico each scored 14 for Central, which fell to 1-4 in the league.. Lucas Parker had 13 and Hunter Wood chipped in 10.

CHURCH HILL — Makale Foreman netted 12 points as the Indians cruised to the Big Eight win.
D-B took a 15-point lead into the locker room and maintained it the rest of the way.
David McFarland led Volunteer with 12 points.

KINGSPORT — Michael Harr hit a foul shot with less than 5 seconds left to break a 35-35 tie and Ryan Headrick hit two more from the line to seal the Rebels Big Eight win over.
Headrick finished with 12 points, Harr added 11, and Christian Comsa and Will Blair
grabbed six rebounds each for the Rebels.
Hunter Jones led the Vikings with 15 points — all on 3-pointers — and Adam Mitchell
added 11 points.

GREENEVILLE — Dylan McClellan scored 19 points as the Highlanders won their Watauga Valley Conference opener, sendig the Huskies to 0-3 in the league.
Taylor Whitehead added 12 points for Cloudland, which led by four at the break and pulled away in the second half.
Tyler Bailey led North Greene with 11 points. Adam Kirk and Zane Britton each had 10.

Holden Joseph and Terry Miller each scored 11 points, but it wasn’t enough to give the Eagles the win.

CHURCH HILL — Savannah Felgemacher scored 18 points and the Lady Falcons beat the Indians to move into a tie for third in the Big Eight. Both teams are 3-2.
Lindsey Overbay had 13 points and Deanna Way added 11 for Volunteer.
Alex Anderson racked up 24 points for D-B. Cydnee Morrisette added 11.

KINGSPORT — Ashlee Mitchell and Kelsey Stoops scored 17 points apiece as the Lady Vikings picked up the Big Eight win.
Mitchell also had eight rebounds, six assists and five steals. Ashley Byrd chipped in with nine points, five rebounds, six assists and three steals.
The win keeps Tennessee High in second in the league at 13-3 and 4-1. The Lady Vikings play host to Dobyns-Bennett on Tuesday.
Kayla Tipton led South with 16 points. Courtney McKenzie and Brayden Hutchins each had 14.

GREENEVILLE — Brooke Rhodes scored 16 points to lift the Lady ’Landers to the Watauga Valley win.
Courtney Wilson and Martina Presnell added 10 apiece.
Mendy McNeese scored a game-high 18 for the Huskies.
