ELIZABETHTON — “I have been truly blessed,” David McQueen said about working for the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department for the past 28 years — the past four years as supervisor of maintenance.
Not only has the city been his only employer his entire life, not only has he been a part of nine Appalachian League championships in minor league baseball, but he even attributes his job as the way he met his wife, Shelby, 22 years ago.
“I am still living my dream after all these years,” McQueen said of his work with the Elizabethton Twins every summer and the many friendships he has forged with players and administrators at the highest level of baseball. But he is also happy with a job that has allowed him to work with all sorts of people in Elizabethton who use the parks and recreational facilities.
