Police: Intoxicated driver lied about kids being home alone

A city man was charged with DUI and filing a false report after telling officers during a traffic stop that his two children were home alone, police said in a news release.
Donald T. Lowe, 274 Austin Springs Road, was observed driving his pickup truck without a seat belt on North Roan Street. Lowe was stopped and found to be intoxicated, police said.
Lowe told police his two children were home alone. Officers went to the address the children were reported to be but were unable to make contact with anyone. Police discovered Lowe’s children had never been left alone, and they were in full-time custody of another adult.
Lowe was booked into the Washington County Detention Center, where he was being held on $6,000 bond. He will be arraigned in Sessions Court on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
