ELIZABETHTON — The Carter County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to make arrests in a roundup of alleged methamphetamine suppliers and manufacturers.
Three more arrests were made over the weekend. They include Cindy Lou Sims, 50, 305 H St., No. 3; Mickey Ann Cordell, 33, 273 Teaberry Road, Roan Mountain; and Michael Albert Danner, 34, 342 H. Heaton Road, Lot 7, Hampton.
The arrests are part of “Operation Street Sweeper,” and targeted 30 who had been indicted by a Nov. 13 Carter County grand jury.
The arrests began at 11 p.m. Wednesday and 18 people were arrested on methamphetamine charges in the first 12 hours. The sheriff’s department also discovered and cleaned up three methamphetamine laboratories.
Sims and Danner were also charged with violations involving Suboxone. The medication is used to treat addictions to opium-related drugs.
Sims was accused of two sales of Suboxone to informants working for the 1st Judicial District Drug Task Force and the Carter County Sheriff’s Department Special Operations Unit. The sales allegedly took place on June 29 and July 5. Her charges will be heard in Sessions Court on Jan. 8.
Danner was also accused of two sales of Suboxone to informants on June 20 and June 26. He is also charged with simple possession of Suboxone on June 29. His Suboxone charges were heard by the Nov. 13 grand jury and he was indicted. His charges will be heard during the next session of Criminal Court.
Deputies said several of the remaining suspects are North Carolina residents and officers are working with authorities in that state.
