Good, ’Toppers grab Big Eight win over South

KINGSPORT — C.J. Good scored a game-high 24 points and made five 3-pointers, helping Science Hill (10-1) improve to 2-0 in the Big Eight Conference with a 95-44 win at Sullivan South on Friday.
Fellow senior guard Will Adams made three 3-pointers and scored 14 points and shooting guard Calvin Songster (11 points) also made three treys. Reed Hayes added nine points.
Michael Harr led the Rebels (0-1, 2-5) with 15 points. Ryan Headrick added nine points.
The Hilltoppers host Tennessee High on Tuesday.

Junior 6-foot post Gabby Lyon scored 19 points and junior point guard Tianna Tarter added 13 for the Lady Hilltoppers (2-0, 5-0).
Seniors Enjelica Reid (ankle) and Shy Copney (knee) returned from injuries for their season debuts. Reid scored 10 points and Copney had six.
Guards Morgan Knack and Keisha Gregory scored nine points apiece for Science Hill.
Kayla Tipton (18), Courtney McKenzie (14) and Brayden Hutchins (12) combined for 44 points for the Lady Rebels (0-1, 5-1).
Nine different players scored in the fourth quarter for the Lady ’Toppers, who host Tennessee High and VCU signee Ashley Mitchell on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

BRISTOL — Dillon Reppart made four 3-pointers while scroing a game-high 21 points in the Trailblazers’ win at Viking Hall.
Jacob Littleton added 17 points for Boone (5-2), which hosts Sullivan East tonight.
Lucas Hensley and Ethan Rice scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Unicoi County. The Blue Devils take on Sullivan East tonight in a game that’s also at Boone.

GATE CITY, Va. — Jenny Snyder shot 7 of 12 from the field and made 12 of 14 free throws in a 26-point, nine-rebound performance fpr the Lady Trailblazers.
Katherine Casey made 6 of 8 field goals en route to 15 points. Allison Little added 11 points.

ELIZABETHTON — The Lady Warriors blew a late lead, but held on for the win over the Rangers.
Shalee Perry scored a game-high 16 points and dished out seven assists to lead Happy Valley. Mackenzie Blankenship added 12 points and five assists.
Kalee Johnson and Kaitlyn Kincer pulled in 10 and eight rebounds, respectively. Johnson and Kincer both scored nine points.
Unaka got 14 points apiece from Alicia Colbaugh and Kassie Winters.

KINGSPORT — Post Connor Mitchell scored 17 points and wing Tyleke Love added 14 as the Indians (1-0, 2-0) won their Big Eight Conference opener at the Buck Van Huss Dome.
Isaac Mango scored 15 points for the Pioneers (0-1, 3-6).

BRISTOL, Va. — Logan Russell made five 3-pointers and scored 19 points and Zac Potter added 16 points in the Highlanders win at John Battle High School.
Case Fields made a pair of treys en route to 15 points for Johnson County (3-3), which plays host John Battle tonight at 7:30.

Noah Rosenbalm had 19 points and 14 rebounds to lift the Eagles to the win.
Holden Joseph also scored 19 points for Tri-Cities and grabbed seven steals. Tri-Cities led 35-8 at halftime.

Senior 5-foot-10 forward Natalie Smith tallied 14 points and 16 rebounds for the Lady Knights. Sophomore shooting guard had seven steals and five points for Providence (5-2).
