Afton woman accused of taking items at store

An Afton woman was arrested Friday following an investigation into a shoplifting at store inside the Mall at Johnson City, according to a police news release.
According to the release, Nicole K. Seaton, 38, 320 Brackens Lane, allegedly went to Belk’s women’s store, where loss prevention personnel saw her conceal $774 worth of merchandise and leave the store without paying for the items. The loss prevention personnel were able to apprehend Seaton outside the store.
Seaton was charged with felony shoplifting and was taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where she was being held on $1,000 bond.
Seaton is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Monday at 9 a.m.
