Johnson City police nab accused would-be pharmacy robber at court hearing

Johnson City police took advantage of a court appearance Tuesday to arrest a man accused of trying to rob a local pharmacy of drugs.
Dustin Smith, 26, 249 Gray Station Road, No. 23, was picked up during a Washington County Sessions Court appearance on an unrelated case.
Police said Smith drove up to the drive-through window of Gray Pharmacy, 208 Suncrest St., Gray, and demanded narcotics in exchange for no one being hurt.
An employee working the window told police employees were fearful that Smith had a weapon because he kept his hand obscured while he made his demand.
Smith was charged with attempted robbery and jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $50,000 awaiting arraignment in Sessions Court set for today.
