A man was charged Friday by Johnson City police following an investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle.
James Melvin Brummitt, 30, 107 Holston Mountain Road, Elizabethton, was charged with theft of property over $1,000.
Brummitt was being held in the Washington County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
