Johnson City police arrested a Bristol man Monday on charges that he wrote a worthless $7,800 check to buy a vehicle.
Daniel Lee Overstreet, 40, 160 Wilkshire Place, Bristol, was charged with writing a worthless check over $1,000 and theft of property over $10,000.
Police said Overstreet purchased a vehicle from a local car dealership and wrote a worthless check for $7,800 to cover the down payment on the vehicle.
Overstreet was released from the Washington County Detention Center on $20,000 bond. His appearance in Sessions Court was pending.
