Man pepper sprayed after spitting in deputy's face

CHURCH HILL — A Hawkins County man was charged with assault on an officer Saturday night for allegedly spitting in the face of a sheriff’s deputy after being arrested for public intoxication.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday HCSO Deputy Matt Pendleton responded to an assault complaint at 103 Woods Road off of Goshen Valley Road south of Church Hill.

Pendleton spoke to Rondell Ketron who was bleeding from his arm, and who reportedly was injured while trying to break up a fight between an unidentified black male and Brandon Kippleing Ketron, 36, of that address.
