Milligan announces death of math professor

MILLIGAN COLLEGE — Milligan College announced Thursday the death of longtime math teacher Isaac Nidiffer.
As assistant professor of the practice of mathematics, Nidiffer died Tuesday after a period of declining health.
“The Milligan community has suffered a great loss,” Milligan President Bill Greer said in a news release. “I deeply appreciated my colleague’s kind and gentle manner, and he will be missed by all of us and by the thousands of students whose lives he has touched throughout his career.”
Nidiffer began teaching math at Milligan in 1995. A graduate of Unaka High School, he earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from East Tennessee State University.
He taught at Ross N. Robinson Junior High School, Kingsport, from 1962-76. In 1976, he began teaching at Dobyns-Bennett High School in Kingsport, where he served for 21 years. He also was an adjunct instructor at ETSU and Northeast State Community College.
Memorial Funeral Home in Elizabethton is handling funeral arrangements, which were incomplete.
