We want to say “welcome to Johnson City” to the officials of the Tupelo Honey Cafe. We think they’ve made the right choice in picking our downtown as the newest location for their eatery.
We know it was a difficult decision. Bristol and Kingsport have many things to offer, but we believe officials with the Asheville, N.C.-based company will not be disappointed with their choice.
They will find Johnson City extremely grateful that the cafe has selected our community as a place to do business.
As we noted in this space last month, Johnson City is a perfect fit for Tupelo Honey.
Our downtown is becoming the talk of the region, and Tupelo Honey will be able to grow and flourish with the other businesses already in the district, as well as those that are certainly to come.
We also believe Tupelo Honey is the perfect partner for the locally themed brewery that the cafe will be sharing space with in the old CC&O Railroad depot.
We are delighted to see our city’s railroad history preserved and celebrated with the redevelopment of the CC&O depot.
Finally, we know officials from Tupelo Honey are pleased to have seen the excitement that was generated by their search for a location in the Tri-Cities.
We predict this same buzz will follow this project well through the grand opening of the new Tupelo Honey Cafe here in Johnson City.
