CHUCKEY — An Afton woman was killed after a car she was riding in flipped several times, ejecting her from the vehicle, a Tennessee Highway Patrol report said.
According to the report, the driver, Marcus W. Strong, 32, Chuckey Pike, Chuckey, was traveling north on Tenn. Highway 351 and while going around a curve ran off the right side of the road.
Strong allegedly over corrected the car, sending it across the road and off an embankment, where it struck a pole head on causing the car to flip several times.
The passenger, Kiley M. Shelton, 33, Middle Creek Road, was thrown from the car and died from her injuries.
Both Strong and Shelton tested positive for alcohol and drug use and were not wearing their seat belts during the time of the accident.
Strong suffered injuries during the accident.
The THP said charges are pending.
