Johnson City police arrested a 22-year-old Milligan Highway man early Monday morning for allegedly beating another man unconscious with a baseball bat over the weekend.
Brooks M. Price, 1901 Milligan Hwy., was charged with aggravated assault.
Just before 3 a.m. Sunday, police went to the Cherry Street parking lot following a 911 call about a fight there and found Matthew E. Taylor, 24, lying on the ground, bleeding from his head, according to the incident report.
Taylor was taken to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment.
Police said Taylor suffered multiple abrasions, an open head would that required six staples to close, multiple teeth fractures, a fractured jaw, a left eye socket fracture and multiple facial bone fractures.
Witnesses reportedly told police that Price hit Taylor with a baseball bat before fleeing from the parking lot.
While at the hospital, Taylor reportedly told police that Price had assaulted him when questioned about the incident.
Police then issued a warrant for Price’s arrest, but were unable to locate him until early Monday with the assistance of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department, who located Price at his Milligan Highway residence.
Price was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $50,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance today.
