Liquor store clerk faces charges after shooting at fleeing shoplifter

If he'd wanted to hit him, he would have hit him.
North Knoxville liquor store clerk Harold Edward Williams, though, contends he only wanted to scare a fleeing shoplifter when he fired a single .38-caliber round above the man's head Monday.
"If we don't scare people to keep them from robbing us, they'll be here as soon as we open the door," said the 76-year-old Williams.
