Buffs get first win of year

Milligan College’s baseball team picked up its first win of the year Tuesday, defeating Trevecca Nazarene 19-11 in Nashville.

The Buffs scored four runs in the first and seven in the second to go up 11-1. Trevecca rallied with a five-run third, but Milligan responded in the fourth with four more runs, including a two-run homer by Wesley Jones.

Ryan White led the Buffs at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs. Jones drove in three runs on two hits, while Joe Purus had three hits and Hunter Carpenter added two. On the mound, Logan Wright picked up the win in relief. Tyler Wilson started, giving up six runs on six hits.

Milligan (1-3) next plays at Cumberland University on Wednesday.
