Batter Up! Johnson City Cardinals Home Opening set for June 22-24

The Johnson City Cardinals will open their Appalachian League season June 19-21 against Bluefield and begin their home schedule with a three-game stand against Danville on June 22-24 at Howard Johnson Field in Johnson City.

The Cardinals will play a total of 34 regular season home games during the 2014 season. This year's home schedule is once again highlighted by visits from league rival the Elizabethton Twins as they will make the short trip to Johnson City for seven games this season. The Cardinals and Twins will face off for a single game on Tuesday, July 1st, as well as two three game series beginning on Sunday, July 6th and Friday, July 25th.
The defending Appalachian League Champion Pulaski Mariners will visit Johnson City for a three game series starting on Wednesday, July 16th. Following the Pulaski series Cardinals fans will get their first look of the new Pittsburgh Pirates' affiliate when Bristol comes to town for a three game series starting Saturday, July 19th.
The Johnson City Cardinals will have nine home games in August, including a six game homestand from Thursday, August 7th through Tuesday, August 12th when the Burlington Royals and Kingsport Mets come to Johnson City. The Cardinals finish the season at home with a three game series against the Greeneville Astros from Wednesday, August 27th through Friday, August 29th.
The 2014 Season marks Johnson City's 40th consecutive year of affiliation with the eleven-time World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are managed by the nonprofit Johnson City Sports Foundation (JCSF). Proceeds from the Cardinals' season help provide grants for local youth sports and education programs. The Johnson City Sports Foundation has provided over $312,000 in grants since taking over operations of the Cardinals in 2004. Season tickets are on sale now.
