Frye has battled his way to a record of 26-6 this season. He finished second in the Falcon Frenzy, and was fifth in the Indian Classic. The defending Region 1 champion is a two-time state qualifier.Joining Frye on the team are four wrestlers from Science Hill, and a pair of David Crockett standouts. Max Vaughn, Austin Bagley, Anh Khoa Nguyen and Hunter Bagley made the team for the Hilltoppers while the Pioneers placed Zach Bynum and Dillinger Messer on the squad.Tennessee High also had four on the team: Jarrett Fuller, Corbin Hurley, Josh Spangler and Will Edwards.The Indians had three with Frye, Palmer Begley, and Jonathan Ruth. Storm Williams of Morristown East also made the team.Jefferson County’s Logan Hollingshead was selected as the Super 14 coach of the year.Vaughn, a 132-pound senior, captured the title at Knox Catholic’s tournament and was sixth in the Fandetti-Richardson Brawl. He is a two-time region champion with a record of 35-9.With a title at Catholic and runner-up finishes at the Fandetti-Richardson and North Knight Invitational tournaments, Austin Bagley (40-7) has been a powerful force. He qualified for the state last season.Hunter Bagley (40-12, 195 pounds) earned a third-place finish in the Fandetti tournament. The sophomore also took fourth place in the North Knight event.As for Nguyen, he was fourth in both the North Knight and Catholic events. The junior is 32-14 overall, wrestling at 182 pounds.Crockett’s duo has been solid all season, combining for a record of 62-9. Bynum, a 106-pound junior, is 31-4 and has a career record of 86-21.This year he won the Brawl in the Hall, and was second in the Arab Invitational. He is repeat member from last year’s Super 14 team.Wrestling at 120 pounds, Messer (31-5) won a title in the Brawl at the Hall. He has a career mark of 48-18.Begley (29-4) is the defending region champion at 160 pounds. The junior won the Falcon Frenzy and took third in the Indian Classic this season.As for Ruth, the junior was fifth in the Indian Classic and sixth in the Falcon Frenzy. The 285-pounder has a record of 22-8 this season.With a record of 34-7, Hurley has been tough on his 126-pound opponents. He was second in the Brawl at the Hall, third in the Ed Cressel Classic and fifth in the Indian Classic. The defending Region 1 champion carries a 4.0 grade point average.Wrestling at 170 pounds, Spangler has battled to a mark of 41-6. The senior won the Brawl at the Hall, was third at the Ed Cressel event, and took fifth place at Bradley Central. He is the defending Region 1 champion.Edwards wrestles at 220 pounds. The senior is 21-9, and finished eighth in the Brawl at the Hall.Fuller (113 pounds) has worked his way to a record of 24-11 this season. He was fourth in the Brawl at the Hall.As for Williams, the junior has a record of 11-2 this season. He was a state qualifier two years ago, and took third place in the Catholic tournament this season.
